EAGLE  MOUNTAIN

 

This is the western face of Eagle Mountain, at the southern end of the Amargosa Desert in southeastern California.  The entire face here consists of eastward-dipping Cambrian sedimentary rocks.  The shaly slopes at the base represent the Carrara Formation.  The gray, cliff-forming limestones above represent the Bonanza King Formation.
