AURICHALCITE
Aurichalcite is a scarce zinc copper hydroxycarbonate
mineral ((Zn,Cu)5(CO3)2(OH)6).
It has a nonmetallic luster, a robin's egg blue color, and tends to form small,
delicate needle-like crystals.
Aurichalcite needles in a vug of iron hydroxy-oxide gossan (field of view ~3.4 cm
across) from an oxidized carbonate replacement deposit at the Ojuela Mine,
Mapimí, northeastern Durango State, northern Mexico.
