AMPHIBOLITE
Amphibolite is a foliated- or crystalline-textured
metamorphic rock dominated by amphibole. Amphibolite forms by
intermediate-grade metamorphism of basalt or gabbro.
Nordic Sunset Granite (a.k.a. Tondra Granite, Tundra Granite, Toundra Granite) - crystalline-textured garnet amphibolite attributed to Murmansk District, northern Karelia Republic, far-northwestern Russia.
Black = amphibole. Whitish gray = plagioclase feldspar. Deep red = garnet.
